Biographical Information

In America there was Charles and Ray Eames both of them got a sin of a design creativity.

In World War II they got married and both of them marked a unique design. So, Ray studied art in 1930s and was part of art movement that contributed to American abstract Expressionism. While Charles had a trip to Europ and was Experiencing Depression [by Pat Kirkham, author of Charles and Ray Eames: Designers of the Century (MIT Press)]

In 1949, Charles and Ray Eames designed the Eames House, and they also designed a nearby house for themselves. (Charles Eames Furniture from the design collection the museum of modern art, new York)


there was a Case Study project, and both of the houses were in the same project, started by John Entenza for his magazine "California Arts and Architecture.". so, this project aimed to explore some innovative architectural designs.

Mies van der Rohe's Influence:

  • The interior of the Eames House was filled with playful elements. This approach contrasted with the seriousness of architectural designs influenced by Mies van der Rohe's steel.

Reflective Writing

In reflecting on the enduring legacy of Charles and Ray Eames, what I liked about their design that they were designing chairs not only to make people comfortable when they sit, but also, they trayed to help their injured army to be comfortable also.
